Artists: Jeremy Bailey, David Horvitz, BAÇOY-KOOP (Printing, Duplication and Distribution Collective)

Love Letters is an offsite curatorial project featuring PRAKSIS alumni Jeremy Bailey and Iz Öztat as a member of BAÇOY-KOOP (Printing, Duplication and Distribution Collectivealongside US based artist David Horvitz. The project is co-curated by PRAKSIS Founding director, Nicholas John Jones and Paris based curator Alessandra Prandin.

Inspired by Russian thinker, writer and activist Alexandra Kollontai (1872–1952) who vigorously critiqued the accepted societal norms of her time, Love Letters brings together three artists who challenge the sophisticated mechanisms of power and control prevalent today. Each of the three interventions subverts modes of contemporary propaganda from different areas of daily life (online marketing, lectures, unsolicited-mail) to replace their usual seductive intent with generous, poetic acts of resistance.

The project launches at 3pm, this Saturday 19 May at Tensta konsthall with Sweet Confiscation a performance by Istanbul based BAÇOY-KOOP (Printing, Duplication and Distribution Collective), which draws on dissident produced literature to help negotiate an elusive position between two extremes of utopian escapism and revolutionary struggle.

Be sure to visit www.theyoumuseum.org to opt in to Jeremy Bailey’s online intervention The You Museum which replaces big-data fuelled online advertising banners with purpose-made works of art.

David Horvitz’s mail project To You, the Wind flips the premise of unsolicited mail, instead offering the gift of an artwork posted directly to residents living near to Tensta Konsthall.

Love Letters forms part of a special programme of events held alongside Dora Garcia’s exhibition 'Red Love' at Tensta konsthall as part of CuratorLab at Konstfack.
