Join the residents involved in Monumental—Temporal as they discuss the exhibition resulting from their intensive three-week residency.
Brought together by an interest in exploring the parameters and protocols of sculpture, particularly in relation to questions of size and permanence, the exhibiting residents include Sayed Sattar Hasan (UK), Gereon Krebber (DE), Kjetil D. Kristensen (NO), Mathew Lacosse (CA), Claudia Mann (DE), Evgeniya Martirosyan (RU), and Catriona Robertson (UK). The works on show result from the challenge of producing work that is monumental in impact yet temporary in nature, using a limited selection of materials, while working in conditions away from their usual studio set-up. This event will take the form of a brief presentation of the works by each artist, followed by questions, comments and open conversation.
This event is part of PRAKSIS’s eleventh residency Monumental — Temporal, developed with Gereon Krebber in collaboration with Fellesverkstedet. In addition to showcasing the physical outcomes of the residents’ work, play, and experimentation, it celebrates Fellesverkstedet’s final events at Urtegata: after seven years, they are moving to a new home at Seilduksgata 29 in Oslo’s Grünerløkka district.
With kind thanks to the Goethe Institute for their support of residency events.
