Climata - A hub for sound and ecology is a projected open-access database of field sound recordings relating to environment. The hub is intended to be global, flexible and responsive, and its range of formats and content will develop over time in response to community suggestions.
We hope you will enjoy listening to its recordings from around the globe, and we also actively welcome your contributions: your own sound recordings can be included by following the simple instructions that introduce each section of the hub.
Climata - A hub for sound and ecology launches with a selection of sonic exercises developed by participants in PRAKSIS’s seventeenth residency, Climata – Capturing Change at a time of Ecological Crisis.
R17’s participants were Siri Austeen (NO), Sarah Kazmi (PK), Margrethe Iren Pettersen (NO), Lasse-Marc Riek (DE), Elly Stormer Vadseth (NO), Gustavo Valdivia (PE), Geraldine Vanspauwen (BE), and Maria Wang Kvalheim (NO). Their specialisms including sound arts and technology, video, installation, performance, scenography, poetry, anthropology, art history and philosophy. Responding to Covid-19 restrictions, this residency was conducted entirely online.
